Abstract
702,271. Mine-props. OESTERREICHISCHALPINE MONTANGES. May 1, 1950 [May 12, 1949], No. 10649/50. Class 20 (2) A telescopic mine prop comprises additional clamping surfaces provided by a band 5 passing round the lower end of the upper part 1 of the prop, so that less clamping force is necessary. In Fig. 1 a cam 13 and jaw 12 mounted in the lock 7, 8 welded to the lower part 2 of the prop are adapted to clamp the upper part 1 between plates 9, 10. One leg of the band 5 passes between the wedge 12 and the plate 10 and the other leg between the plate 9 and the back plate 8 of the lock. The plates 9, 10 and the jaw 12 may have projections 11 engaging between the limbs of the U-shaped parts 7 of the lock. In one modification the jaw 12 comprises two wedgeshaped parts and in a further modification the cam 13 is replaced by a wedge.
