'Class 20 (2) Relates to a pit prop locked by-a vertical friction wedge 11 which is carried down with the upper prop member 3 until 'engaged with -a stop '12, the wedge being returned to initial position by a return spring device 13, 16. The wedge 11 is hollow and contains the return spring 13 which is compressed by the pin 16 when it engages the stop 12. The adjustment of the initial position of the wedge and the clamping mechanism are described in Specifications 641,378 and 703,327.
