Abstract

664,165. Chock releases for mines. VERTRIEB UND VERKAUF AKT.-GES, Jan. 25, 1949 [Feb. 9, 1948], No. 2058/49 Class 20 (ii) A chock release for mines comprises upper and lower wedge-shaped members 2, 4, and a latch member 8, pivoted to the member 2, extending through slots 3, 13 in the members 2, 4 and having an enlarged head 15 engaging lugs 17 on the upper member 4. The latch 8 is locked in its engaging position by an arm 19 pivoted at 18a to the member 4 and engaging a hollow in the head of the latch 8. The locking arm 19 is released by an upward blow on the projecting end of a short rod 21, loosely mounted in a bore in the latch 8 beneath the depression into which the arm 19 fits. The same blow also serves to release the latch 8 and allows the member 4 to slide down the member 2 and collapse the chock. The lever 8 has a nose 11a adapted to engage a bridge piece 7 in the member 2 when the chock is collapsed, to relieve the bolt 9 of load. The lower member 2 may have upwardly projecting flanges at its sides to receive the collapsing parts of the chock without damage to the latch 8 which then lies between the flanges. Two chock releases may be coupled together by the bolt 9 and a distance piece.
