Abstract

776,097. Rotary compressors. CHICAGO PNEUMATIC TOOL CO. May 6, 1955 [May 11, 1954], No. 13181/55. Class 110 (2). [Also in Group XXIV] A machine for compressing fluids comprises in combination an engine 31, a rotary compressor 32 including axially disposed low- and high-pressure rotors 59, 61 of the outwardly sliding vane type, shaft means for said rotors, an oil pump 104 directly connected to said shaft means for delivering oil to the compressor for reducing the compression temperature therein and for sealing the compression chambers against fluid leakage about the shaft means, a receiver 42 connected to the air exhaust chamber formed in the highpressure stage and an oil separator 44 which is mounted on the receiver and includes a removable filter adapted to remove oil from the fluid passing therethrough. The compressor portions are interconnected by a coupling 74 and are connected to the engine by a clutch 82, bearings 94, 96 and packing means 101 being arranged as shown. The inlet of the compressor 59 is provided with a valve 127 and a screen 128 whilst the outlet of the compressor 61 is provided with a valve 137. The gear type oil pump 104 incorporates a relief valve 108 and circulates oil through conduits 114, 118, 115, 117, 120, 125, 130 as shown. The machine also includes an air cleaner 33 and a radiator 38 for the engine, an oil cooler 39, an oil filter 41 and an air cleaner 36 for the compressor, a throttle control 49, a relay valve 51, a pressure transformer 52 and additional oil and air filters 53, 55 for details of which members the Specification should be referred to.
