Abstract
6938. Wade, J. T., and Aublet, Harry, & Co. March 19. Fixed-abutment type; discharge and suction pipes for pumps; strainers.-The cylinder of a rotary pump having outwardly-sliding vanes is formed integral with the receiver. Gas is drawn in through a screen f by the pump, and is discharged below the baffle r. The outlet has a depending pipe s which serves as a separator. A relief passage controlled by a valve t connects the receiver space with the inlet. Oil is forced by the delivery pressure through channels in the casing leading from below the level of oil in the receiver to the main bearings. The oil passes from the main bearings to the spaces behind the piston vanes, and thence through passages z in the vanes and through the ports h back to the receiver. The shaft is packed by a hat-leather gland. The gland 2, Fig. 5, may be used, in which a spring-pressed bush 5 keeps the leather in contact with the shaft. The piston vanes are kept in contact with the cylinder walls by a pair of loose rings which engage the inner ends of the vanes.
