Abstract
776,015. Waveguides. DECCA RECORD CO., Ltd. Dec. 1, 1955 [Dec. 14, 1954], No. 36238/54. Class 40 (8). In a waveguide unit comprising an annular flange at least at one end for connection to a further waveguide unit, and a double quarter-wave choke system having one section in the form of an anular troughcoaxially surrounding the waveguide, one of the walls of the trough is wholly or partly of bellows construction to permit of relative movement of the flange and waveguide. The first quarterwave section is bounded by a plate 11 extending radially outward from a waveguide unit 10, the distance from the midpoint of a broad side of the unit 10 to the outer periphery of the plate 11 being a quarter-wavelength and by a corresponding plate on the adjacent waveguide unit. The second quarter-wave section is formed between a cylinder 12 extending axially over the unit 10 for a quarter-wavelength and a surrounding bellows 13 joined to the cylinder 12 by a ring 14. The bellows 13 is secured to a flange 15 having bolt holes 16 for bolting the flange to the corresponding flange of the adjacent waveguide unit. The arrangement permits of the joining of the waveguide units with angular misalignment.
