Abstract

1,208,589. Universal joints. JEAN WALTERSCHEID K.G. 20 Dec., 1967 [21 Dec., 1966], No. 57907/67. Heading F2U. In a double Hooke's type constant-velocityratio universal joint wherein outer forks 1, 9 are connected respectively to an intermediate yoke 4 by spiders 8, the intermediate yoke is formed by two identical recessed flanged forks 4 bolted back-to-back to form a central recess 4A in which is: slidably arranged a centring plate 5 having cylindrical open-ended sockets 13 each side in which ball-ended extensions 12 on each of the outer forks 1, 9 are slidably and rotatably journalled, slidable sealing-rings 14 being arranged one each side of the centring plate 5 which is suitably recessed at 15 around each socket 13 to clear the rings 14 for maximum shaft deflection.
