Abstract
775,844. Shoe bottom presses. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd. (United Shoe Machinery Corporation). Aug. 11, 1955 [Aug. 13, 1954], No. 23506/54. Class 17 (1). A shoe bottom press comprises a pair of abutments 12, a support 10 movable upwardly to cause a shoe S thereon to be pressed between the support and the abutments, on ejector 22 movable across the support, means operable in response to downward movement of the support after the shoe has been pressed, for moving the ejector to eject the shoe from the support, and means 52 for thereafter returning the ejector to retracted position. The ejector, carried by the pad box 10, includes a plate 24 which carries a pair of resilient pads 25 and is adjustable angularly on the end of bar 28, the latter being pivoted to lever 42, guided, as it moves forwardly, by pin 34, and located in its rearward position by engagement of pins 38, 40. When the pad box 10 is raised spring 52 holds arm 42 so that the ejector is retracted and pawl 70, pivoted to arm 58 and connected thereto by spring 80, engages the tooth of ratchet 56 secured to lever 42, and a pin 74 or arm 76 adjustably secured on shaft 46, as in Fig. 2. When the box is lowered after pressing the shoe roll 60 on arm 58 engages a fixed but vertically adjustable stop 62, so that arm 58 is pivoted clockwise and, through pawl 70, ratchet 56, and lever 42, moves the ejector forwardly to eject the shoe, as in Fig. 3. In this position the tail 72 of pawl 70 engages pin 74, and on further movement of arm 58 the pawl is moved counterclockwise on arm 58 and disengages from ratchet 56, whereupon spring 52 returns lever 42, retracting the ejector. When the pad box 10 is moved upwardly spring 80 returns arm 58 and pawl 70 to the position shown in Fig. 2. The ejected shoe is collected in on inclined tray 18 carried by the pad box. The machine described has two stations with a pad box etc. at each station. Specification 623,295 is referred to.
