A false-twisting device comprises a rotatable tube 9 having a flange 10 with one or more holes 11 or slots 13: a yarn which is to be braked passes through the tube and through the hole(s) or slot(s). In the device of Fig. 4, a spring-loaded plate 14 bears against the flange 10 with the yarn passing therebetween.
