Class 61 [Also in Group XIX] A gauge such as a height gauge comprises a carrier 3 for a scriber 6 adjustable on a column 2, the carrier incorporating a relatively slidable scale graduated on one side at 9 to co-operate with graduations on the column 2 and on the other at 10, to form a vernier with graduations 11 on the carrier. In setting the gauge to say 3.55, the vernier scales 10, 11 are set to read 5 corresponding to the 0.05, and the 5 of the scale 9 set opposite the 3 on the column 2.
