Abstract
773,933. Spectacles. BAUSCH & LOMB OPTICAL CO. Aug. 16, 1955 [Oct. 6, 1954], No. 23562/55. Class 97(1) Spectacle frames having temple supporting bars 16 which are fixed at the nasal or bridge portion of the structure and extend outwardly above the lenses to the hinges which support the temples 21, are provided with yieldable braces 22 between the lenses and the bars 16 so as to support the latter at their outer ends. In the embodiment shown, the spectacles are half-rimmed, the lenses 13 being secured to the rims 11 by brackets 14, and the yieldable braces are S-shaped and are secured to the outed ends of the rims 11. When split-rims are used to support the lenses, the yieldable braces 22 are similarly attached to the rims. Alternatively, the spectacles may be rimless, in which case the braces 22 are secured to lugs fixed in the outer edges of the lenses. The yieldable braces may be of any other form including a coil spring.
