Abstract

773,805. Cathode-ray tubes. CHROMATIC TELEVISION LABORATORIES, Inc. Aug. 13, 1954 [Aug. 24, 1953], No. 23522/54. Class 39(1). Grid structures of parallel wires mounted in cathode ray tubes are made of cold drawn metal wire in which during the bake out of the tube at a temperature below the recrystallization point of the metal the stresses are partially relieved and increase the tautness of the wires. The grid adjacent to the phosphor stripes 20 of a colour tube comprises two sets of wires 22 passing grooves in bars 24 at each end of the target and secured to hooks 28 insulated from each other. The wire is stainless steel hard drawn which will shrink at the bake out temperature 750‹F. Other wire materials and their recovery temperature limits are specified and include carbon steel, nickel, tungsten, molybdenum, copper, silver, gold and metal alloys.
