Abstract

773,473. Two-part couplings. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Sept. 2, 1955 (Sept. 20, 1954], No. 25267/55. Class 38 (1). A connector body 10 of resilient material has rectangular-section passages 20, 21, 22 formed with shoulders 27, 28, 29, respectively, and receiving terminals 25 made out of blanks (Fig. 10, not shown). The blanks are fashioned to provide wings 37, 38 for clamping the conductors and insulation, respectively, a lug 41 to restrict the insertion of the terminal in the body 10, projections 85 for engaging the wall of the body 10, and arcuate parts 45,46 with belled mouths 47, 48. The terminals with attached leads are inserted in their respective passages in the body 10 until arrested by lugs 41, in which position locking feet 51 prevent withdrawal, and arcuate parts 45, 46 define pin-receiving sockets registering with pin-entry holes 11 in the body. The terminals can be withdrawn by forcing apart flanges 91 in the body and removing an end wall 90 to give access to the locking feet 51. The Specification also describes a form in which a body having a simple passage and terminal is slotted to give access to the contact (Figs. 12-15, not shown).
