Abstract
1,100,882. Two-part couplings. PYLE-NATIONAL CO. 2 Feb., 1965 [14 Sept., 1964], No. 4484/65. Heading H2E. The pins of a two-part coupling are secured in their insulating support blocks by resilient collets of C-shaped cross-section. As shown, a metal strip 74 is bent to form a cylinder with edges 81 and 82 in close proximity but sufficiently spaced to allow it to be radially compressed for insertion into an insulated support block. Saw-tooth shaped projections on the inside of the apertures in the support block enter slots 77a and hold the collet in place. Fines 76 are bent inwardly so that their free ends can engage behind an enlargement on an inserted contact-pin. The support blocks may form part of a multiple-pin type coupling as shown in Fig. 1. Male pins 13 have enlargements 43, 44 which engage either side of a rubber sealing disc 29 positioned between insulating blocks 50, 51, and are held in the block 50 by collets 74. Female pins 39 are similarly mounted in the other part of the coupling.
