Abstract
772,462. Pipe joints. FAIRY AVIATION CO., Ltd. Oct. 21, 1955 [Oct. 21, 1954], No. 30388/54. Class 99(1) The ends of pipes 1, 2, are formed with interlocking portions 4, 5, which prevent the pipes from separating longitudinally, the pipes being held interlocked by a sleeve 7 clamped to one or both of the pipes 1, 2, and carrying packing rings 11 which render the joint fluid tight. The clamping means comprises a split collar 12 integral with the sleeve 7 and tightened by a bolt 14; a second clamp may be provided at the other end of the sleeve. The interlocking portions 4, 5, of the pipes may be of rectangular shape as shown or may be of castellated, saw-tooth, or curved form. A sealing medium may be introduced between the pipe ends and the sleeve to form a permanent bond therebetween.
