Abstract

Aqueous solutions of salts of diethylstilbesterol diphosphate are made stable against the development of sediment by addition of alkali to bring the pH to 9 to 11. Such solutions may be heat-sterilized in an autoclave without deterioration. In an example sufficient normal sodium hydroxide in pyrogen-free water is added to dry diethylstilbesterol diphosphate to bring it into solution, and the addition of sodium hydroxide continued until the pH reaches 10. The solution is made up to the required volume with pyrogen-free water, the pH adjusted if necessary and sealed in ampoules.
