Abstract

Injectable solutions of thiamin orthophosphoric ester chloride are made stable to heat, light and ageing by the addition of thiourea, phenol or both together. In examples, phenol is dissolved in an aqueous solution of thiamin orthophosphoric ester chloride and the pH adjusted to 3.3-3.4 by the addition of an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate, and separately thiourea is dissolved in water and this solution added to the first solution. The pH is then adjusted to 3.35 with sodium bicarbonate or concentrated hydrochloric acid as appropriate and the solution filtered under vacuum, poured into vials and finally tyndallized for 30 minutes at 70 DEG C.
