Abstract

771,395. Induction heating. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE AKT.-GES. March 16, 1955 [March 29, 1954], No. 7700/55. Class 39(3) [Also in Group XII] In a continuous induction-heated furnace, workpieces 1 are conveyed longitudinally through the heating coil 2 step-by-step on a conveyer system comprising stationary rails 6 on a frame 5, and movable rails 8 on a frame 7 given an upwards, forwards, downwards and backwards movement by an eccentric 9. During the backward movement the workpieces rest on the stationary rails. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the frame 5 is also oscillated by an eccentric, the two movements being co-ordinated to give continuous movement of the workpieces. Another modification, Fig. 5 (riot shown), has two induction furnaces arranged in sequence. The rail systems are made of non-magnetic, heat-resisting material and the eccentrics may be replaced by cams or by hydraulic or pneumatic actuating means. The conveyer system may be operated in reverse if necessary.
