Abstract

580,294. Roller-way conveyers for furnaces &c. FALLON, J. June 27, 1944, No. 12181. [Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] In a roller-way conveyer for furnaces &c. the rollers a are intermittently rotated to impart a step-by-step feed to the charge by the engagement with collars a<2> on the rollers of "walking- beams" d which are successively raised, moved longitudinally, lowered, and retracted to their original positions. To allow the rollers to be lifted by the beams, the projecting ends a<1> engage in vertical slots b' in channel members b, the lower ends of these slots providing bearings for the rollers when the latter are in the lowered position. The beams d are supported on flanged rollers e having axles e' movable in slots f<1> provided in the upper ends of plungers g, the latter being raised and lowered by the longitudinal movement of a shaft l to which is connected one arm k<2> of a three-armed counterweighted lever k secured to the bottom of each plunger g by a link j. The reciprocating movements of the shaft l and beams d are effected in timed relationship by the mechanism described in Specification 362,078.
