In step-by-step tube rolling apparatus having simultaneously reciprocated and oscillating rolls, the tube blanks are slidable on the mandrel rods which are periodically moved to and held rigidly in a predetermined position before the start of each rolling stroke. The rods are thereafter released to allow limited floating. The apparatus is described in Specification 768,593. Specification 409,145, [Group VI], also is referred to.
