Abstract
770,284. Driving gear for conveyer chains. GREBE, K. Dec. 29, 1953 [Dec. 29, 1952], No. 36094/53. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XXIV] In an intermediate sprocket drive on to the straight run of a conveyer chain the actuator elements on the sprockets and the abutments on the chain are so arranged that the engagement between them occurs mainly over the peripheral section of the sprocket beyond the tangent point. This is effected in Fig. 2 by inclining the abutment faces 31, 32, 33 of the chain and providing actuator elements 1, 2, 3 of the sprocket of circular form. In Fig. 3, the teeth of the chain 21, 22, 23, 24 are square, but two sprockets having actuator elements 1 2, 3 and 10, 11, 12 respectively, and axes offset along the direction of the chain, are provided. Each sprocket relieves the other sprocket of the drive before the tangent point. The sprockets are coupled to rotate together, by, for example, connecting links 8, Fig. 6. The abutment faces of the teeth of the chain may also be oblique as in Fig. 2.
