770,246. Pouring spouts. AMERICAN FLANGE & MANUFACTURING CO., Inc. May 6, 1955 [May 11, 1.954], No. 13208/55. Class 66. A sliding retractable filling and pouring spout 15 for a transport container comprises a cupshaped member 1 fixed to the container and having a hole therethrough and positive engagement means, e.g. a screw thread 8 for securing the inner end of the slidable spout 15 to maintain the spout in fixed pouring position. The container is sealed by screwing a cap 24 over a gasket 23 resting on the end of the spout, which is supported by a bead 16. In the pouring position the spout is screwed by means of screw threads 17 into engagement with the thread 8. When filling the container the spout is in the position shown, with the seal removed. A notch in the ledge on which the bead 16 rests allows air to pass from inside the container, and also allows the bead 16 to pass through the aperture in the member 1 when assembling the device.
