Abstract

768,934. Aircraft undercarriages. BLACKBURN & GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and WARBURTON, D. S. May 13, 1955, No. 13925/55. Class 4. A non-retractable undercarriage leg 1 carrying a bogie beam 3 has a fixed fairing portion 2 secured to the leg and a fixed portion 8 secured to the beam 3 so arranged that their leading edges are aligned in spaced relationship. The front torque links 5 are extended beyond their common pivot 12 by a lazy tong linkage 10-14 and a movable fairing part 9 is mounted on this linkage by a pivot 15 and a pin-and-slot connection 16. In flight the fairing 9 occupies the position shown whereas when the undercarriage is shortened upon landing the movement of the links 5 and the lazy tong linkage displaces the fairing 9 forwardly to permit free vertical movement of the bogie 3. Rocking movement of the bogie 3 is damped by a shock absorber 7. Specification 745,965 is referred to.
