Abstract

632,110. Aircraft undercarriages. ELECTROHYDRAULICS, Ltd., and DAVIES, H. Dec. 3, 1947, No. 31963. [Class 4] An aircraft under-carriage comprises a resilient telescopic unit 3, 4 slidably mounted in a structural member 5 in the form of a cross-bar and connected to it by struts 8, 9 which transmit all vertical loads, the outer tube 4 of the telescopic unit being constrained by keys 17 to move vertically in the part 15 of the member 5. The struts 8 and 9 are pin-jointed to an arm 12, carried by the outer tube 4 of the resilient unit, and to lugs 10 and 11 adjacent the bearings 6 and 7, by which the ends of the member 5 are attached to the aircraft. Vertical loads on the wheels 1, 2 are transmitted to the aircraft structure through the tube 3, a shock-absorber 18, tube 4, arm 12, struts 8 and 9 and the bearings 6, 7.
