Abstract
242,599. Potez, H. C. A. Nov. 6, 1924, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Land wheels; shock-absorbers, applications of. -A landing frame comprises an axle 30 in two parts hinged together at 19, so as to be capable of relative movement in a substantitlly vertical plane but not in a horizontal one. The hinge member 17 is secured to a V-shaped member 2 pivoted to the fuelage at 11, 12 by means of a pivot pin 16, formed on the member 2 and passing through the hinge member, the arrangement being such that the member 17 can move only in the plane of symmetry of the aeroplane. In an alternative construction, Figs. 4, 5 the pivot pin 20 is rotatable in the member 2 and the axle joint employs a single pin 23. The outer ends of the axle are connected to elastic struts 5, 6 and to struts 3, 4, which may be elastic, by means of universal joints and sleeves 13, 14 rotatable on the axle. The struts are connected to the fuselage by universal joints. The attachments of the member 2 to the fuselage may be made adjacent those of the struts 5, 6 or those of the struts 3, 4.
