[Also in Group XII] A packing for a piston 51 comprises a ring 80 made of soft material and having annular ribs 82, the ring being held in a groove in a ring 81 which is slipped over the piston and is clamped by a screwed' ring 64. The pressure fluid passes through ducts 65, 83 and acts on the back of the packing to press the ribs 82 against the cylinder wall.
