Abstract
767,766. Hydraulic transmission of power. EVANS, A. F., and HOPKINS, C. H., [Representative of HOPKINS, W. S.]. Sept. 15, 1955 [Sept. 15, 1954], No. 26757/54. Class 69 (2). In an hydraulic transmission a pump comprising a constant stroke plunger B draws liquid from a reservoir through a line G and a valve E and delivers to a motor through a valve D and line H. A receiver C communicates with the pump chamber K, and is of such size that under starting conditions, when no liquid is delivered to the motor, the entire energy output of the pump is absorbed by compression of the liquid in the receiver. A number of pumps may be arranged in parallel and supply a common motor, each pump having a cam F for raising its inlet valve E and rendering it inoperative at will.
