Abstract

Finely-divided inert inorganic or organic substances are incorporated into highly polymeric polymethylene terephthalates by forming an aqueous dispersion of the substance and adding it either to the molten polyester or to the reaction mixture producing the polyester which is at a temperature above 100 DEG C. The aqueous dispersion may contain a glycol of formula HO(CH2)nOH where n=2-10. Specified inert substances are titanium dioxide, carbon, magnesium oxide and kaolin. Specifications 554,718, [Group IV], and 610,137 are referred to.
