Abstract

765,374. Coated fabrics. WARDLE (EVERFLEX), Ltd., B., and BERRY, K. O. May 5, 1955 [Oct. 8, 1954], No. 28984/54. Class 140. Textile fabric coated with a synthetic resin, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, is treated so as to render it capable of being stretched both laterally and longitudinally by passing through water at a temperature of 75-100‹ C., preferably 95‹ C., and then drying so as to avoid applied longitudinal tension. The coated fabric may be heated, e.g. by passing over steamheated plates or cylinders, prior to the water treatment. The coated fabric may be dried by passing through a clip or pin stenter or a festoon drier. The fabric may be of cotton or rayon. The surface of the coated fabric may be provided with a bright, matt, embossed, plain or printed finish prior to the water treatment.
