Class 99(1) In a pipe coupling wherein an axiallybored male-member 2 having a head 5 of frusto-conical, part-spherical or like tapering form is clamped within a flared mouth of corresponding form in a female member, not shown, by means of a union nut, the member 2, which is constructed of mild steel, brass or similar comparatively soft material, is counterbored for at least a part of the length of the head and the counterbore is lined with a sleeve 6 of hardened high carbon steel. The outer extremity of the member 2 is spun over to retain the sleeve in position. Specifications 667,181, 740,754 and 762,072 are referred to.
