Abstract
763,402. Gaseous fuel heat radiators. SCHWANK, G. Sept. 16, 1954 [Feb. 2, 1954], No. 26926/54. Class 51 (1). A heat-radiating device having a plurality of burner bodies disposed adjacent each other in a horizontal plane in a housing having a downwardly directed skirt and adapted to be rendered glowing by the combustion of a fuel-air mixture is characterized by the provision of means to guide the fuel mixture and the waste gases resulting therefrom so that neither the ignited fuel mixture nor the waste gases will encounter pipes through which the fuel mixture is delivered or openings for the intake of secondary air for admixture with the fuel mixture. In the heating device shown, which is intended to radiate heat downwardly, a housing 1, Figs. 1, 2, is provided with an inwardly directed peripheral flange 1a which supports four burner bodies 8, sealing between adjacent bodies being accomplished by stays 7, which are also supported by the flange, when the bodies 8 and stays 7 are fixed in position by suitable clamping means. Each burner body is topped by a chamber 6 which is fed with a fuel and air mixture by a pipe 9 from a common manifold 4, each pipe 9 having secondary air inlet apertures. Dividing the bodies 8 into two pairs is a chamber 3 which communicates with a waste gas outlet 3a formed on its external surface with cooling fins 10. Depending from the housing is a reflector 5. Combustion products emanating from the lower surfaces of the bodies 8 pass to the chamber 3 and hence to the outlet 3a.
