761,012. Shearing. INDUSTRIE-WERKE KARLSRUHE AKT.-GES. Aug. 12, 1954 [Aug. 13, 1953], No. 23465/54. Class 83 (4). In bar shears in which a blade 2 carried by a member 1 connected by a pivot 3 to the frame co-operates with a fixed blade 10, a bar-supporting member 4 pivotally connected to the member 1 is actuated in response to shearing pressure exerted on the member 1 to clamp the bar against the moving blade 2 during shearing. The supporting member 4 is in the form of a bell-crank connected to the member 1 by a pivot 5, and an eccentric 12 exerts the clamping and shearing pressure. The fixed blade 10 is adjustable laterally by the use of shims 13. The bar is fed at an angle to ensure a perpendicular cut, and is held by a holding device 7. The bell-crank may be hydraulically or pneumatically operated.
