A closure for fishing net bags consists of a supporting device comprising an elongated member, on which meshes along the opening end of the bag can be threaded, the two ends of which may be brought adjacent to and parallel with each other, and a locking device including a spring catch and consisting of a head-piece on which is turnably mounted a locking arm, the head-piece and the arm having openings to receive and grip the two ends of the supporting device and the locking device having locking means to hold the locking arm and the headpiece in fixed engagement with the two ends. In the arrangement shown, the meshes 22 of a trawl bag are retained on the arms of a U- shaped member 17 by a device comprising an arm 2 hinged to a head-piece 1, reduced sections 19 of the member 17 engaging in holes 5, 5<SP>1</SP> formed by co-operating recesses in the arm and head-piece. A spring-loaded locking plunger 13 within the head-piece 1 is operated to release the arm 2 by a cord 16.
