Abstract

A method of preparing injectable medicaments from comminuted fresh placenta which has been freed from blood, albumen and other impurities, comprises extracting the placenta with organic solvents non-miscible with water and having a dipole moment between 0,37 and 1,2 to liberate the aqueous colloid of the tissue cells, and in a manner known per se, separating, clarifying, sterilizing and if desired, concentrating the aqueous extract in a vacuum. The placenta material is treated with about 10 per cent by weight of the organic solvent e.g. chloroform, toluene or ethane tetrachloride, for about 8 to 10 days at a temperature not exceeding 5 DEG C. and with constant shaking, after which the organ pulp is pressed off and may be further treated to remove the lipoids.
