Abstract
759,251. Gas turbines. LEIST, K. May 29, 1951 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 12610/51. Class 110(3) In a multi-stage gas turbine additional fuel or a mixture of fuel and air is supplied to the working fluid at several or all stages after the beginning of expansion through one or more thermally-stressed non-porous rotor parts which are thereby cooled, the combustion gases being at such a temperature that the additional fuel will ignite thereby supplying further heat to the gases so that the expansion thereof is approximately isothermal. Additional air may be supplied separately from the additional fuel and further fuel and air may be supplied through stator parts as well as through rotor parts. The additional fuel may be injected through hollow rotor blades or from the rotor itself and may be injected in a direction opposed to the direction of rotation of the rotor. The hollow blades may be provided with partitions so that the fuel has to follow a tortuous path through' each blade. The fuel may be liquid, gaseous or pulverulent such as pulverized coal mixed with oil and the fuel may be vaporized in passing through the rotor parts. An embodiment of the invention is shown in Fig. 1, the stator blades being omitted. Specifications 616,696 and 619,634 are referred to.
