Abstract

648,647. Gas turbine plant. VADOLT TRUST. July 22, 1948, No. 19675. Convention date, July 24, 1947. [Class 110(iii)] Combustion cnambers 2 discharge through re-action jets 4 in a rotating drum 1. The drum drives a compressor which delivers air through a conduit 8 to the interior of a stationary drum. The air passes out through nozzles 5 and enters, with a supersonic relative velocity, passages 9 in the rotary drum 1 which lead to the combustion chambers. Fuel, which may be coal dust, is supplied to the burners with a pressure due to the rotation of the drum. The gases leaving the jets 4 are collected in a casing 6 and led to a normal turbine on the same shaft.
