Abstract
756,570. Brassieres. BAYER & CO., Ltd., C., and PIERSON, J. O. Oct. 6, 1954 [Oct. 15, 1953], No. 28534/53. Class 141. A bust-supporting garment has the upper part of each breast cup formed of two or more substantially triangular flaps disposed side by side, each triangle being secured at its base to the lower part of the breast cup and secured at its apex to suspension means for the garment, the adjacent sides of the juxtaposed triangles remaining free. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 each breast cup comprises a lower part 18 and three triangular flaps 20, 21, 22 secured at their lower edges to the part 18 by the seam 19 and at their apices to the lower end 23 of the shoulder strap 24. The free sides 21a, 22a; 20a, 21b define the edges of two convergent slots allowing for variations in size of the breast of the wearer. The garment also comprises a body-encircling band having alternate panels of elastic and non-elastic material, the ends of the band and the adjacent flaps 22 being secured together at the front of the garment at 17 by hooks and eyes, so that the garment may be readily opened down the front from top to bottom.
