Abstract
756,137. Brake triple valve. KNORRBREMSE GES. Nov. 29, 1954 [Nov. 28, 1953], No. 34591/54. Class 103 (1). A triple valve for compressed air brakes is designed so that various auxiliary valve units or devices may be interchangeably fitted to the main structural unit 1 so that the same basic valve unit may be used for a motor vehicle or for a train, in which latter application it may also be adapted for different types of trains, or sizes of brake cylinder or made responsive to speed or vehicle loading. Fig. 1 shows the basic main structural valve unit to which a unit 3 accommodating a brake nozzle and release nozzle of appropriate size may be added for use as a motor-car triple valve. The unit 5, which may also be fitted, contains a shut-off cock and charging nozzle for a brake reservoir. Fig. 2 shows the basic valve unit 1 fitted with a constant pressure control chamber 21 and shows sets of nozzles 9, 11 and 13 that may be brought into operation for various types of train. In Fig. 3, a 1: 1 ratio relay valve unit 23 is added, a nozzle 25 with change-over element 7, 15 taking account of different types of train, a device 19 also being provided for controlling the brake reservoir charging. Fig. 4 shows the assembly with the relay valve 23 replaced by a pressure converter 27 with a ratio which is not 1 to 1 which automatically adapts brake cylinder pressure to loading or speed.
