755,088. Valves. VAILLANT, H., [trading as VAILLANT KOMM-GES., J.]. Oct. 11, 1954 [Oct. 10, 1953], No. 29171/54. Class 135. A gas valve 15 or 16 has a thermally-controlled ignition safety device in which an arresting member, e.g. the armature 11, is axially moved by a knob 3 against a spring 8 into the region of a thermally-controlled holding device, e.g. the electromagnet 12 energized by a thermocouple heated by a pilot jet 17, and a control cam 19 or 20, movable with the member 11 and rotatable by the knob to actuate a valve 16 or 15 respectively. The armature 11 is rotatably mounted on a member 7, 9 carrying the cams and the knob spindle 2 has a sliding splined connection 6 within the member 7. On depressing the knob 3 against the spring 4 a knob pointer enters a recess in a collar 23 which only allows the cam 19 to be turned sufficiently to open the pilot valve 16. With the pilot burner 17 ignited and the holding device 11, 12 acting, the knob is released and its pointer rotates above the collar 23 so that the cam 20 can now open the gas valve 15 leading to the burners 13.
