Abstract

1,028,214. Igniting gas burners. ELECTROLUX Ltd. Feb. 1, 1963 [March 23, 1962], No. 4161/63. Headings F4F and F4T. A gas burner for a refrigerator comprises a safety valve 19 held in open position by an electromagnet 31 energized by a thermocouple 29A heated by the burner flame, and an axially movable flashback ignition tube 36 coupled to a push-rod 33 for opening the safety valve at starting. When the push-rod is depressed against the action of a spring 34 it opens the valve 19 against the action of a valve spring 20 and the end of the ignition tube is moved over the burner. A match is then applied to the other end of the ignition tube. The movement of the ignition tube is made greater than that of the valve by arranging that the push-rod moves a certain distance before contacting the valve and by providing the pushrod with a push-button movable with respect to the rod against the action of a spring 35. The burner comprises a tube having a perforated upper part surrounded by a sleeve 27. The gas supply is also controlled by a manual valve 11 and an adjustable thermostatic valve actuated by a heat-sensitive body 14.
