Abstract

971,694. Controlling liquid fuel burners. L. G. HAWKINS & CO. Ltd. Feb. 6, 1961 [Feb. 8, 1960], No. 4357/60. Heading F4T. A bi-metal strip 40 is disposed on a heat shield 41 surrounding a wick burner 8 so that if the flame blows back the strip is heated and releases a lever 12 holding open a valve 5 supplying the burner with fuel. The bi-metal strip is fixed to the outside of the shield 41 and extends through a slot therein. One end of the strip engages one end of a sliding member 45 the other end of which lies adjacent the lever 12. The lever 12 is retained in adjusted position by ratchet teeth 17a. Means 23, described in Specification 906,190, are provided for releasing the lever from the ratchet teeth when the heater is lifted. The valve is closed by a spring 15.
