996,043. Controlling gas burners. JUNKERS & CO. G.m.b.H. Feb. 19, 1964 [Feb. 21, 1963], No. 7000/64. Heading F4T. In an ignition and safety control system for a main gas burner 10, a thermosensitive element 26 heated by a pilot burner 15 actuates a valve stem 29 movable axially with respect to a valve 12 controlling the flow of gas to the main burner 10, the stem having (1) an extension 29<SP>1</SP> which opens a switch 30 controlling a spark or glow ignition device 25 and (2) an abutment 31 which lifts the valve 12 off its seat after the switch 30 has been opened. Closure of a manual switch 22 and a thermostatic switch 23 causes an electromagnetic valve 24 to open to supply the pilot burner 15 and the ignition device to be energized. The pilot burner therefore ignites and heats the element 26 and the expansible medium therein causes expansion of a member 28 to actuate the stem 29.
