Abstract

1368199 Gas burner controls SOCITALIANA TECNOMECCANICA "LA PRECISA" DI DR P & G DE STEFANI SAS 12 June 1972 [15 July 1971] 27382/72 Heading F4T [Also in Division F2] A gas flow control device for gas burning appliances such as gas stores, instant water heaters and the like, comprises a casing 1 having gas inlet 6, one or more outlets 28, 28<SP>1</SP> to main burners, and an outlet 13 to a pilot burner 15. Slight rotation of knob 32 from position shown causes a cam 34 to move a lever 21 and thereby open valve 17 leading to outlet 13, whereafter depression of knod 32 causes the cam to engage a lever 35 and thereby open gas inlet valve 9. Thus the pilot burner can be ignited whereafter the valve 9 is kept open, after release of knob 32, by a thermoelectric safety device 11, 12. Further rotation of knob 32 brings cam protrusion 34a opposite a recess 5a, allowing spring 33 to lift the assembly of knob 32, cam 34 and rod 31 to thereby cause shoulder 39 on the rod to engage and lift valve 38 off its seat. This permits limited gas flow to the main burners via adjustably restricted bleed passages 25, 26 and outlets 28, 28<SP>1</SP>. Still further rotation of knob 32 screws a threaded shank 43 of a flanged sleeve 42 further into a thermostatic member 46, causing the flange to move valve 46 downwardly away from its seat 30 and thereby permit regulated gas flow to the main burners in dependence on the setting of the knob 32 and the temperature of the appliance as sensed by element 45.
