Abstract

754,964. Hopper feeders. TAYLOR & SON, Ltd., F. W., and TAYLOR, N. Feb. 14, 1955 [April 27, 1954], No. 12114/54. Class 120 (1). In a hopper feeder, having a shutter 4 for controlling the passage of material to a weigh pan 3, the shutter carries an armature 6 which is seized, when the shutter closes, by a magnet 7 to prevent rebounding and consequent discharge of excess material to the weigh pan. As shown, the armature 6 is fitted to the counter-balance weight 10 for the shutter, magnet 7 is adjustably mounted in a non- ferrous housing 8, and adjustment of the magnetic pull on the armature is provided for by variation of the thickness of a shockabsorbent sheet 9 of leather, fibre, &c. between the armature and the magnet.
