Class 80(1) The endless belt 4 tensioned by a spring- loaded roller 5 is arranged between a cable or belt 3 and a pulley 2 in order to reduce wear on the cable and pulley. One flange of the pulley is recessed at 10 so that the belt 4 may be replaced when worn without interrupting the drive between the pulley and the cable, and the recess may have a removable fitting piece. The cable or belt 3 may be part of a conveying installation in a mine. The belt 4 may be of leather, artificial leather, balata or impregnated textile material, or may comprise a reinforced synthetic plastic material, e.g. thermoplastic substances such as vinyl polymers, polyamides, polyacrylic esters, polyisobutylene, polystyrene-butadiene co-polymers or polyethylene .and polymethanes and the like, said substances being arranged in layers with reinforcements of textile webs or wire gauzes therebetween and being welded or stuck together. Reinforcement may also consist of embedded fibres, threads, fabrics, strings, wires or strips of natural or synthetic origin, or of organic or inorganic nature. The pulley may have an aluminium lining engaging the endless 'belt.
