Abstract
754,309. Batteries. SOC. E.R.E.C. SOC. D'ETUDES DE REALISATION ET D'EXPLOITATIONS COMMERCIALS. Oct. 18, 1954 [Oct. 19, 1953], No. 29911/54. Class 53. After electrolyte has been introduced into a cell E the filling tube 2 is sealed by a mass of fusible material 3 which is placed near the tube and has a resistor 4 embedded in it connected to a circuit containing a fuse 6 which is dimensioned so that it blows when the mass 3 is melted. The circuit containing the resistor may be energized by the cell that is being filled or by a separate cell into which electrolyte is introduced simultaneously with the filling of the cell E. The tube 2 may be made of the same material as the mass E so that the two adhere together. The cell may be filled under vacuum which will cause the melted mass 3 to be drawn into the tube 2. In a modification the resistor is embedded in the upper end of the wall of the filling tube which is made of fusible material which when melted closes the tube.
