Class 143 Partly filled bags or other containers 20 are suspended from a beam 1 by a clamp 9, 11 while the final weight of the charge is made up by a vibratory feeder 22. When the beam tips contacts 16 stop the feeder and energize an electromagent 15 which opens the jaws and allows the filled bag to fall on to a discharge belt conveyer 23. The jaws are temporarily opened to permit manual application of the next bag by a switch 18 in circuit with the electromagnet 15. A weight 5 is provided to compensate for the material in suspension at cut off.
