[Also in Group XVIII] An electrolyte-level indicator for an accumulator comprises an indicating rod one end of which rests loosely on a float on the electrolyte. The Figure shows an indicating rod 4 resting loosely at its lower end on a plate 5 of porous plastic which acts as the float and which also protects the upper parts of the electrodes and separators. The rod 4 is slidable within a transparent tube 3, attached to the plug 1, and is prevented from falling out when the plug is removed by a flange 8 on the rod. The plug which has venting openings 11, 12 may be filled with crushed microporous separator material.
