753,986. Bed-settees. COOPERSMITH, R. Jan. 22, 1954 [May 13, 1953], No. 2040/54 Class 52(2). A foldable sofa-bed with bed frame sections 17 . . . 20 foldable into the sofa frame S so that section 20 is parallel to but spaced from section 18 has a pivoted locking element 36 on section 20 which engages a bracket 74 on section 18 to hold the frames in said spaced relation, the element 36 being automatically unlocked, as the frame is unfolded, by a lever 61 and unlocking link 67 with a slot engaging a pin 71 on a bracket 70. As the bed is unfolded link 67 slides and pivots about pin 71 and its end 73 strikes an actuator 42 so that the latch element 36 is pivoted against the action of spring 44 to free its notch 40 from the bracket 74. When folding the bevelled nose 41 of element 36 strikes seat 75 of bracket 74 and the notch 40 snaps over the edge of seat 75. In a modification the unlocking link carries a pin sliding in a slot on the bracket. Specification 675,254 is referred to.
