Abstract
752,913. Fuel injectors. BRYCE BERGER, Ltd. March 5, 1954, No. 6534/54. Class 7(3) [Also in Group XI] In a fuel injector a jacket member 9, forming around the nozzle tip 6 an annular cooling chamber through which a coolant is circulated, is sealed to the nozzle body by a resilient heat-resisting packing material 16 so arranged as to permit relative axial movement between the members 9, 6, due to temperature changes and to exert no axial pressure on the nozzle tip 6. The coolant is fed to the cooling chamber through supply and return passages in the injector body and the fuel is fed to the injector chamber 3 through a passage 2 which may be vented to a leak-off passage 12 by a screw-plug 13. The packing 16 comprises a sealing ring arranged in a groove in a part of the member 9 adjacent the nozzle tip and in sliding contact with the nozzle tip 6.
